形態特徵

Perennial herbs or suffruticose, to 100 cm tall; stems square, with a furrow on each side, puberulent.
Leaves subsessile; blades 8–15 cm long, 2–3 cm wide, narrowly elliptic, base cuneate, apex acuminate or caudate, margins remotely serrate, both surfaces sparsely puberulent, densely so along veinlets.
Inflorescences of loose cymes, axillary, to 5 cm long; bracteoles 2–3 mm long, linear, puberulent. Flowers pedicellate; pedicel minutely hairy; calyx campanulate, 5-toothed, glabrous or sparsely puberulent near margin or teeth, lower teeth larger, shallowly triangular, upper 2 teeth smaller, triangular; corolla glabrous, limb puberulent in throat, minutely scaly on inside of tube, lower lip 3-lobed, lateral lobes broadly ovate, central lobe and upper lip very broadly ovate; stamens 4, didynamous, inserted in throat, lower pair longer than upper one; anthers 2-celled, divergent, densely puberulent at apperture; filaments hairy; stigma bifid.
Nutlets spherical, to 6 mm wide.
Chromosome number 2n = 32.
